Ex-Liverpool star, Danny Murphy, believes his former club will put Aston Villa behind them when they face Everton this weekend.
Everton have flown atop of the Premier League table behind a brilliant start to this season.
Recovering from a 7-2 defeat will be no easy task. Now Liverpool will face the league leaders in the season opening Merseyside derby away at Goodison Park.
With a new look Everton looking a difficult feat, many are backing them to take all 3 points. But Danny Murphy believes the Villa loss will help motivate Liverpool to get back on top.
“For the first time in many years, the blue half of the city will understandably go into the game expecting to win but in football you are best to be careful, particularly given a team as good as this Liverpool,” Murphy told the Daily Mail.
“We all know Jurgen Klopp’s men have great resilience and character besides their obvious quality. They have jumped over nearly every hurdle in the past couple of seasons and bounced back form losing European finals, let alone one league game at Villa Park.”
“If i was in the dressing, I would say beware of that wounded animal. Particularly Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago Alcantara should be all right to return.
Virgil Van Dijk recently stated that having no fans had been affecting Liverpool and Danny Murphy seems to agree.
“This is a fascinating game because of Everton’s revival, but they will miss the momentum they would have got from their fans,” He added.
