Former Atletico Madrid midfielder, Thomas Partey, has completed his medical in Spain’s capital ahead of a last minute move to Arsenal.
Arsenal has finally landed Partey after expressing serious interest in the midfielder over the past few years. Despite having the last few months to land the Ghanaian, Arsenal have left it to deadline day to land their man.
He has been Arsenal’s top-target all year and there were times where it looked like the English side would miss out on the deal. However, it is now confirmed that that the 27-year-old has completed the finishing touches to make the move a reality.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Partey has completed his medical in Madrid and will shortly take a flight to London where he will officially be announced as a Gunner.
It is also reported that Arsenal did not have to deal with Atletico Madrid as they were able to trigger his release-clause for an undisclosed figure. All dealings were conducted between Arsenal, La Liga, and Partey’s agent.
Thomas Partey becomes Arsenal’s biggest signing since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang arrived from Borrusia Dortmund. He arrives at an exciting time for Arsenal where talent is abundant and the squad is thriving.
Atletico Madrid has replaced the midfielder with Arsenal’s, Lucas Torreira, who joins La Liga on a season-long loan. He will immediately replace the departed Partey.
If Thomas Partey makes an instant impact at Arsenal this season, the Gunners will with no doubt be playing Champions League football by next season. His addition is welcomed and will improve a side that is already on the up.
